The District Library Center provides the following services to member libraries:
Interlibrary Loan - If an item is unavailable on Access PA, a request can be sent to Warren Public Library's Interlibrary Loan department and they will work to obtain the needed item on loan.
Delivery– Materials are delivered to libraries within the District via IDS. The District funds “affiliate” IDS membership for all member libraries.
Reference – Reference Department staff are available to assist member libraries respond to patron inquiries via phone, email, or through Ask Here PA. The Reference staff is also prepared to aid member libraries in developing reference collections.
Children’s Services—Children’s Department staff can assist member libraries in developing children’s collections and programming.
Adult Services—The Adult Services Librarian is available to help member libraries develop adult collections and programming.
Cataloging Services—Contact the Cataloging staff for assistance with creating accurate catalog records and mending advice.
Financial Services—The Business Manager may be contacted for advice on financial issues related to public library operation.
District Consultant - The District Consultant acts as a liaison between Commonwealth Libraries in Harrisburg and the district libraries. The Consultant assists with grant writing, filing required state reports, collection development, library board concerns, etc. To assist meeting the continuing education standards, the Consultant arranges for and conducts workshops for library staff and trustees. The Consultant also acts as a library advocate before local, state and federal representatives. Periodic field visits to each district library are also an integral part of the District Consultant’s responsibilities.
Continuing Education - The District Center routinely offers workshops and seminars. Check the events calendar for more details.
District Technical Consultant - The District Technical Consultant provides in person, email, and phone technical support for all 17 member libraries, including hardware and software support, networking and communications setup and support, troubleshooting and repair, new systems installation, and web development. The District Tech also provides research and advice on systems purchasing, IT training, and assists with technology grant writing.
Mobile Computer Training Lab - A wireless mobile computer training lab is available for loan to all public libraries in the Seneca District. The lab is designed to facilitate hands-on computer related training for library staff and patrons throughout the Seneca District.
